from the designing and building by Titus Salt Jnr through
the glory days, when the house was at the very centre of
West Yorkshire society.
The unusual deaths and continuing bad luck experienced
by many of the occupants and the subsequent
sinister reputation which grew about the house.
The sad decline of the mansion into a ghostly ruin and the demolition, which took place over several decades.
The film utilises original photographs taken by members of the Salt family and blends these with contemporary footage of the ruins today.
The film also aims to capture the unusual atmosphere experienced by visitors to the site.
With an evocative sound track Echo of the Stones is a fine visual record of this once magnificent house.
